Mary Wollstonecraft was an unconventional person; her home life was rather dreary and dour and compelled her to seek her own fortune. Sadly, the job she landed was as a ladies maid, and was no better than her life at home. She was forced to return home to nurse her ailing mother until her mother passed away. Mary Wollstonecraft (27 April – 10 September ) was an eighteenth-century British writer, philosopher, and advocate of women's rights. During her brief career, she wrote novels, treatises, a travel narrative, a history of the French Revolution, a conduct book, and a children's book.
